The increaseddemand for roll-on-roll-off and passenger ferries has ensured continued profitability for European specialists shipyards. These shipyards, which include Meyer Werft, Schichau Seebeckwerft and Split yard, turn out vessels that are adapted to the unique needs of their customers. Some ferry lines orderships that are strictly for cargo or passenger transport while others order ships that can handle both cargo and passengers.

"Saudi Abha" leads quartet of large roro ships from Kockrums
Article Abstract:
Saudi Abha, a 2 050 teu container ship, was built by the Kockums shipyard in Sweden for the National Shipping Co. of Saudi Arabia. It is expected to carry 40 percent of all cargo to Saudi Arabia, particularly from the USA.
