Caterpillar has a significant presence in the marine engine market. Its marquees include the Perkins small diesel engine range, the Solar Turbine gas turbine line, and the large engine Caterpillar and MaK brands. While its recent acquisition of German company MaK Motoren has helped Caterpillar consolidate its share of the marine engine market, the combination of two power brands has necessitated a careful realignment of manufacturing and marketing priorities.

"River Boyne" pioneers new generation of coal fired bulk carriers

Article Abstract:

River Boyne, a 75 500 dwt bauxite carrier, has been delivered by Mitsubishi's Nagasaki shipyard in Japan to Australian National Line. The coal fired ship is powered by a twin boiler 19 000 shp automated steam turbine plant.
