UK plans to curb Filipino drop-out rate

Article Abstract:

The International Maritime Employers Committee (Imec) is planning to set up a 150-cadet ship officer training program in the Philippines. The plan comes after an Imec report indicating that newly trained Filipino officers drop out or end up as seagoing ratings due to falling standards and difficulty finding jobs as ship officers.
