Can we ignore Myanmar's military rule?
Article Abstract:
The military junta of Myanmar want tourism to flourish and increase revenue for the country. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, winner of the 1990 election and Nobel Peace Prize winner, is under house arrest since the junta would not hand over power as a result of the election. She wants tourists to boycott Burma until democracy is allowed to thrive. The tourist industry is under the control of the junta and there are human right abuses which the European Commission is investigating since Burma has advantages as an under developed country.

Italiatour is moving on with global vision
Article Abstract:
Italian travel company Italiatour is adapting to rapid developments in the tourist industry with its worldwide travel programme. Managing Director Mauro Marrocu intends to develop mutually beneficial working relationships with fellow Italian operators to build up Italiatour's product range. Tourists want more variety now, says Marrocu. Alternative holidays are being offered to cater for different requirements, including agritourism. Traditional destinations such as Rome, Florence and Venice, remain popular.
