Do holiday villages damage the environment?
Article Abstract:
Planning officer for the Council for the Protection of Rural England, Neil Sindon considers holiday villages are harmful to the environment. Large-scale housing and associated facilities are inappropriate to sensitive areas. The extra tourists attracted to an area increase pollution and congestion. However, villages could be beneficial if they reclaim derelict land. Town planner, Grahame Jones maintains sensitively planned developments enhance the environment. They introduce new opportunities for economic growth and employment in rural areas.

Damage limitation
Article Abstract:
Sunbeds have received some bad publicity recently, in the light of reports which claim that 25% of women exceed the recommendations for number of sunbed sessions. It has also been revealed that the number of cases of skin cancer is rising by 10% per year. However, it is suggested that there is no evidence which suggests that the use of a sunbed is more dangerous than bathing in natural sunlight, so long as care of the skin is taken into account.

A bright future: the sunbed industry has taken quite a bashing in the past year, but it now has an association working on its behalf
Article Abstract:
The Sunbed Association (TSA) has attracted almost 200 members since it was formed a year ago. Three quarters of members are tanning outlets and it aims to promote good practice. The codes of practice were developed to suit the differing membership groups, such as manufacturers, hirers, operators and distributors. It has also negotiated an insurance policy which offers a wide range of cover with a leading insurance company.
