Speakers at the Leisure Property in Europe conference arranged by IQPC covered a wide range of issues. Conference chair Peter Morgan of Havills focused on developing leisure uses in new markets, while US architect and planner Jon Jerde presented his visions of urban environments. James Welch of Jones Lang Wootton discussed the funding of leisure schemes, and predicted good prospects for the commercial leisure market. Mark Greenstreet of BBJ Media Services looked at how consumer behaviour forecasting techniques can be applied to the leisure industry.

Article Abstract:
The UK's Business in Sport and Leisure (BISL) organization now covers 84 companies, and believes it is having a significant impact on the sport and leisure sector, which employs 2.5 million people. The most recent BISL conference, which attracted 300 delegates, covered a wide range of issues. It included a session of Land Use Planning and Partnerships, and speakers also looked at the possible impact of the national minimum wage on the leisure industry and at the place of the megaplex concept in current planning policy guidance.
