New Zealand
Article Abstract:
New Zealand's tourist industry suffers from the proximity of better-known Australia and the country is often seen as a minor destination. However, total visitor numbers in 1999 are set to reach more than 1.5 million, double those of 1989. The recent financial troubles in south east Asia have had a major impact on New Zealand's tourist industry, with growth in the year ending Mar 31, 1999, resulting from success in other markets, such as the UK and North America. International arrivals and visitor numbers are forecast to reach 3 million by 2010.
