Opting out of the CCT race

Article Abstract:

Eastleigh Borough Council, England has contracted out the management of Flemming Park Leisure Centre to DC Leisure (Eastleigh Ltd). It avoided the need for compulsory competitive tendering by not putting forward an in-house team. DC Leisure has formed a partnership with the council allowing substantial investment for improving facilities. Funding consists of 750,000 pounds sterling from the council and 350,000 pounds from DC Leisure. Income surplus to targeted amounts will be shared.

Unbelievable!

Article Abstract:

Pleasureworld has opened a Ripley museum in Great Yarmouth, England. An exhibition of strange artefacts provides a tourist attraction in the old Windmill Theatre on the promenade. Objects were collected by Ripley during travels from the 1920 to the 1950s and the exhibition has been extended with the addition of modern items. A similar venture opened in Blackpool, England in 1991 has proved successful.

Lido fuels changes

Article Abstract:

Park Road Lido, Haringey, London, England has reopened in 1992 after closure for five years. Financial constraints caused the closure, therefore economical operation was a prerequisite of reopening. About 17,000 pounds sterling was allocated for refurbishment. A new energy-saving heating system has been installed by Combined Power Systems that heats two pools at the cost of heating one.
