Peckham library
Article Abstract:
The newly constructed 4.5 million pounds sterling library in Peckham, London makes effective use of coloured glass, metal and cladding to create a stunning building which dominates the Peckham skyline. Architect firm Alsop & Stormer were given a brief to design the library to run as efficiently as possible. Skylights and natural lighting will help reduce heating costs, while concrete pillars will distribute heat in the evening. The library will be a focal point for the local community of Peckham.

The leisure development market is becoming increasingly competitive, driven by stricter planning laws and strong demand. The rapid growth in the leisure industry is attributed to rising affluence, product innovation and increased availability of products, while multiplex operators have also had a pivotal role in its success. The UK has more than 280 proposed leisure schemes in the pipeline, with urban entertainment complexes and multi-level leisure development being dynamic areas of the market.
