Support needed for ETB

Article Abstract:

The UK tourism industry has reacted strongly to a government leak suggesting that the English Tourist Board (ETB) may be scrapped. The Department of Culture, Media and Sport is said to be considering axing the board as part of an 85 million pounds sterling cut from its budget. It is proposed that some of the ETB's functions be transferred to regional tourist boards. Some 9.5 million pounds sterling is currently given to the ETB, of which more than half is distributed to regional boards.
