The mismanagement of two conservation trust funds, the Pittman-Robertson and Dingell-Johnson funds by the US Fish and Wildlife Service is described, resulting in the passing of the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Programs Act of 2000 by Congress.

Taxes paid by fishermen and hunters on new equipment have traditionally gone to pay for wildlife conservation. A congressional report has revealed that during the Clinton administration this money has been diverted for other purposes.

The NRA launched the CrimeStrike program to involve its members and ordinary citizens in the fight against armed and dangerous criminals. Its mission is to control crime by lobbying for reforms in the criminal justice system.
