The Mississippi River is home to a great deal of American History. Travels from Natchez, Mississippi to Chicago reveal a great deal about the history of the country. Areas in the northern and southern areas of the River benefited greatly. The towns of Natchez, Hannibal, MO, Quincy and Galena, IL are profiled as are significant events and people in the river's history.

Natchez Trace Parkway, Mississippi

The 270-mile route from Natchez, MS, to Tupelo, MS, on the two-lane Natchez Trace Parkway is described. The Parkway was originally a path that Indians took to follow the buffalo. Historic sites, driving conditions, and details about lodging and restaurants are given.
