Cabbage is now eaten all over the world and was introduced in Alaska by Russian travelers and immigrants. Recipes including cabbage are given: Orsi's slaw, New England boiled dinner, cabbage rolls, Eileen's borscht and the Hungarian dish kaposztakscozka.

Heavenly herbs

Alaska has many indigenous herbs which can be used as food or medicine. Marina Schaum of Homer, Alaska, has a business growing herbs but cautions people who harvest wild plants without enough background to identify poisonous ones.
