The state of Chiapas in Mexico offers tourists many historical sites such as the Temple of the Inscriptions, St. John the Baptist Church, and Agua Azul National Park. Travellers can also witness plays of the Mayas and buy Zapatista dolls as souvenirs.

Beckley, West Virginia's Exhibition Coal Mine allows tourists to descend into a mine shaft via a trolley and experience what it is like to be in a coal shaft. The mine also has a museum, a miner's cottage and other restored buildings.
