Changes in the land and in the hunter are more noticeable when returning to the same hunting grounds year after year. Hunters gathering in Delta Junction are participating in a tradition begun 20 years ago. They share family news while awaiting the noise of the spooked grouse and the booming of shotguns.

An attempt by deputy director of Alaska State Parks, his son and a Texas ranger, to rescue a bear cub, which ended tragically, is discussed. A bear, which ran off, is killed by starvation or by another bear.
