Article Abstract:
The number of commercial salmon fishing rigs in the Egegik River during the months of June and July sometimes reaches as many as 1,000 boats, which makes the salmon fishing season a risky free-for-all. Since the mid- 1970s, the river has been yielding nearly seven million salmons yearly.

A personal narrative of fishing for king salmon in Kachemak Bay, Alaska ,is presented. King salmon fishing takes place in winter before the main season salmon runs and is limited by sea coditions.
