Field's of dreams
Article Abstract:
The legendary Chicago department store Marshall Field's inspired author and socialite Sugar Rautbord's latest book, 'Chameleon'. The heroine of her depression-era tale is born in the store, and her life is influenced by all of the possibilities that the store offered. Rautbord herself spent many childhood hours in the store, and used old catalogs, news clippings, and other archival materials to add texture to her novel.
