Floodgates open despite Delta's flip-flop on fee
Article Abstract:
Delta is joining the ranks of airlines that are trying to motivate travelers to use the cost-effective Internet for purchasing tickets. Opposition from travel agents, however, forced the airline to withdraw its one-way $1 and $2 round-trip fees for those who did not use the Delta web site to book reservations. The airlines see the Internet as a way to reduce staff and paper costs which in Delta's case add up to $1 billion annually for reservations, second only to labor expenses.
