Playing with fire
Article Abstract:
Land managers in Alaska do not follow the forest fire philosophy of the US. Instead of extinguishing wildfires at once, fire fighters allow the fire to spread reasonably. Land managers explain that fire also helps the ecology by making forests more fertile.
