Article Abstract:

Geese are big, tough birds and the reality of how to hunt geese most of the time is discussed. The key to shooting geese at long range is the 3 1/2" 12-g. would extend and the 3" would handle longer shots than 2 3/4"loads.

Remington introduced .300 Remington Ultra Mag: (RUM), the most requested cartridge for long-action rifles, RUM in May 1999. Fat case, beltless magnums, technically sound, the cartridge proved to be a great success.

The colonel's cartridge: the .35 Whelen

Article Abstract:

Either James V. Howe or Colonel Townsend Whelen was responsible for the development of the .35 Whelen cartridge in the 1920s. The cartridge provided magnum-level power to the common bolt-action rifles of the day.
