How safe are we now

Article Abstract:

The U.S government is racing to replace the existing airline passenger screening with one that it claims would make flying more secure. The existing system, CAPPS I, was developed in early 1990's in response to 1988 bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland but under the proposed system, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) would comb a network of databases to cross check the identities of more than 100 million people who fly each year.

Can you survive merger mania?

Article Abstract:

The airline industry has undergone several changes since the late 1980s, as the mergers that resulted adversely affected air travel. Two proposed mergers in 2001, between American Airlines and Trans World Airlines, and US Airways, United Airlines and American Airlines may further affect air travel with higher prices, less service and labor problems. Ways individual travelers can reduce the way they are affected by the mergers are described.
