Article Abstract:

The Crescent Court in Dallas, TX, and the Helmsley Palace in New York City were the only US hotels that confronted a reporter wandering their halls to check security. Security officers say hotels should be concerned over loiterers and should practice preventive measures against intruders.

Why the bomb in this suitcase won't be detected: US airports lack the latest equipment

Article Abstract:

It is ironic that the latest, US-made bomb detecting equipment are in use at international airports except in their place of origin. The Federal Aviation Administration is still studying equipment which would be most cost-effective. Equipment in use cannot detect plastic bombs.

Garbage overboard

Article Abstract:

Cruise ships are disposing of garbage in the sea in violation of pollution control laws. Particularly worrisome is the disposal of plastic which endangers marine life. The disposal does not seem to be sanctioned by cruise lines but is the act of ship employees.
