Some home buyers in Chicago are taking old buildings that had previously been factories, storefronts, or flats, and turning them into dwellings. Four such homeowners and their homes are profiled. One home was a former machine shop that now features a rental loft above and offices below. Another used to be a jewelry store, and is now a spacious dwelling in the Arts and Crafts style.
