On the ropes

Article Abstract:

The English form of music called change ringing is a combination of music and mathematics produced by pulling bell ropes to the calls of a conductor. Change ringing can last for 10 hours. Thousands of British and a few hundred Americans, such as the ones at the Univ of Chicago, play the bells.
