The park service of Tennessee's Great Smoky Mountains National Park closes Cades Cove Loop Road to vehicles two mornings each week. This gives visitors a chance to tour the 11-mile loop that offers a glimpse of 19th-century living through 30 original structures that were built by colonial settlers.

Mammoth Cave National Park, recognized as the 26th US national park in 1926, is now becoming an attractive site for cavers, explorers and tourists alike. The cave has huge rooms and contains precious relics such as handwoven sandals, cane reed torches and mummies.
