The Department of Transportation has regulations that airlines must follow in cases of overbooking, which airlines use as a measure to compensate for canceled bookings. A traveler must be aware of these regulations and the rights he is entitled to in times of voluntary and involuntary bumping. Tips on planning for a flight and filing complaints are provided.
