The grease gun: U.S. submachine gun, Caliber .45, M3 and M3A1
Article Abstract:
The M3 and M3A1 submachine guns, also known as 'grease guns' due to their similarity in appearance to the mechanic's tool, served an important role not in World War II, but in many later conflicts. The grease gun was referred to as ugly ducklings in comparison to its predecessor, Thomson and Reising, however, its use in combat zones speaks volume as to the excellence of its humble design.

The American Lewis
Article Abstract:
The Lewis Machine Gun has a large cylindrical jacket surrounding the barrel and distinctive tip-mounted pan magazine and is one of the most recognizable military arms of all time.
