Car accidents pose negative effects on victims' psychological as well as emotional well-beings. Though recovery for some may be easier, others develop traumatic disorders, which can be dealt with through counselling. Family support is also a significant factor in recovery.

A personal narrative is presented of a 36 year old woman who sustained multiple injuries when she was involved in a taxi accident in New York. To distract herself from the pain, she began to paint, a hobby which has been of both physiological and psychological benefit.
