Alito confirmation means step back for women

Article Abstract:

The full Senate voted 58 to 42 on January 31, 2006, to fill Sandra Day O'Connor's Supreme Court seat with extreme conservative Judge Samuel Alito. The vote followed months of lobbying by NOW members and Women's rights supporters to convince senators that he was the wrong choice for a high court that had protected the civil and human rights.
