April rally to go down in history

Article Abstract:

Women draw inspiration from mass rallies, and the National Organization for Women's 'Rally for Women's Lives' on Apr 9, 1995, will provide them with an opportunity to oppose violence against women. Women organized mass rallies as early as 1903 to fight for the rights of child laborers and suffragists rallied for voting rights. Colored women also participated in mass movements to protest against racial discrimination. In the 1960s and the later decades, women participated in mass movements to oppose the Vietnam war and support feminist issues.

Women in radio healing war-torn Bosnia

Article Abstract:

Women talk show hosts in Bosnia are becoming experts on conflict resolution in their radio programs. Through their mediation, they get people to talk and listen to each other and heal interpersonal factions. The effectiveness of the format in smoothing out conflicts is apparent in the participants' dropping of their initial defensive body stances. Hostile social attitudes are prevalent in this country where majority of the people are refugees who have to live in the midst of war-damaged infrastructure.
