Article Abstract:
A survey on how much fathers participate in family responsibilities reveals that most mothers do most of the housework and infant care, even if they work. At-home mothers feel their husbands do not appreciate the work they do during the day. Fathers have improved from the 1950s, however.

Research indicates that a mother's attitude about returning to work during her baby's first year is an important factor in how well she bonds with her child. Mothers who are anxious about separation are less likely to let their babies control play.
