Armies at war use rape as a weapon

Article Abstract:

Use of rape as a weapon by armies at war in Kosovo and the incidence and prosecution of rape in the US, and the ages of the women involved, are discussed. Women are often reluctant to disclose that they are victims of rape, fearing they may not be believed, and authorities may be reluctant to follow up. A rape by a man met on the Internet is discussed. Arguments in favor of The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination (CEDAW), an international agreement intended to contribute to ending violence against women, and the US Violence Against Women Act of 1999 (VAWA) are advanced.
