Burn baby burn: at what point does the quest for ultimate fitness turn into an unhealthy obsession?

Article Abstract:

Some studies indicate that female athletes are more prone to eating disorders. The emphasis on weight and ideal body image in sports such as gymnastics, running and skating exacerbate the culture's messages about thinness. Advice on how to achieve balance in exercise and eating are given.

Burning up the miles: Chrissy Duryea-Ferguson fights fires for a living. To relax she runs 100-mile races - fast

Ultrarunning magazine ranked Duryea-Ferguson second among American women in the sport. She began competing in ultrarunning events in 1992 and has since won the American River 50 twice. She also works as a firefighter in Milpitas, CA, and she met her husband during a race.
