Campaign against hate crimes wins widespread support
Article Abstract:
Human rights advocates in the US mark another remarkable achievement in promoting civil rights, as federal officials are expected to pass a bill stipulating the inclusion of sex-related crimes in the hate crimes law. The decision was made in a recent news conference with Pres Bill Clinton, where the increasing number of violent crimes based on sex and sexual orientation was cited. The president further vowed to impose stringent penalties to hate crime offenders and employ additional 50 federal investigators and prosecutors to overlook such crimes.
