Article Abstract:
Respiratory syncytial virus, common cold, flu, croup and chickenpox are among the most common diseases infants catch. Although these diseases can be prevented through vaccines, they can be better prevented through proper hygiene and handling of infants' supplies. Alternative treatments for the diseases are discussed.

Listen up about ear infections

Babies who are inadequately breastfed and are frequently exposed to cigarette smoke have high risks of developing ear infection, which if untreated, may lead to permanent hearing loss and acute meningitis. This can be prevented by preventing children from contracting colds and flu.

It is always safe to seek medical advice when an infant exhibits symptoms such as rashes, incessant crying, diarrhea and fever before starting any home treatment. The pediatrician is still the best authority to rely on no matter how trivial the symptoms seem to the mother.
