Coming back: how active women can beat the odds in the battle against breast cancer

Article Abstract:

Women athletes may have an advantage in coping with breast cancer because they are accustomed to dealing with mental and physical challenges. Research has shown that mental attitude is the most important survival factor. Profiles of women athletes who have survived breast cancer are presented.

Toxic tans: why a healthy tan hurts

Article Abstract:

Sun exposure increases an athlete's risk of being one of the 600,000 cases of skin cancer diagnosed each year. Using a sunscreen with a protection factor of at least 15, avoiding the most intense periods of sunlight and wearing protective clothing are necessary to lessen cancer risk.
