Changing Nationalisms

Article Abstract:

Nation-states have become redundant with the emergence of globalism and a new concept of nationalism has emerged. Contemporary nationalism is an extension of the issues of fragmentation and economic viability of existing states. In a multi-racial nation, fragmentation into ethnically pure entities has evolved into a major issue. The global economy provides a large market but also increases competitive pressures. Many nations have formed larger economic units, such as the European Union, and the Confederation of Independent States, to share the burden of economic responsibilities.
