ERA Summit report
Article Abstract:
The National Organization for Women sponsored an Equal Rights Amendment Summit on Jan. 27-28, 1995, to develop language which can be used by women's rights advocates as a protection against the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th amendment. Under this amendment, women and men can only be treated equally if the government does not have a good reason to treat them differently. Women's rights activists hopes to revise this clause by proposing a new language in the upcoming National NOW Conference in Columbus, OH.
