Elderly power in the 21st century
Article Abstract:
The elderly in the US are receiving more favorable coverage in the media in the 1990s than they did in the past. They are also receiving a greater amount of attention from industry as well, with many companies developing specific products tailored to the needs of elderly Americans. Much of the change in orientation can be attributable to two essential facts: the growing number of older Americans and the bigger role they play in the consumer marketplace. In the early 21st century, the power of the elderly should increase as their numbers rise and their collective clout increases.

Effects of cognitive group interventions on depression and cognition among elderly women in long-term care
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to evaluate the effects of cognitive-behavioral group therapy and focused visual imagery group therapy on cognitive loss and depression in elderly women residents of long-term care facilities. The results indicate that cognitive-behavioral group therapy and focused visual imagery group therapy is highly effective in preventing cognition loss. An education discussion group session was used for comparison with no significant results. The two types of group therapy had no effect in alleviating depression.
