Elections, civil rights headline national NOW conference
Article Abstract:
The 1997 National Organization for Women (NOW) Conference will be held in Memphis, TN, from Jul 4-6. Among the main events of the conference, which have the theme 'Living the Dream,' is the election of the organization's top four officials. Two of the top-well known feminists and legislators have been invited to become the event's keynote speakers. These include Senator Carol Masoley-Braun and Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney. Attendees of the 1999 NOW conference will also be treated to a tour of the historic river city of Memphis, TN.

NOW co-sponsors international Women's Day delegation to Venezuela
Article Abstract:
NOW, Global Exchange, and the US Women and Cuba Collaboration co-sponsored International Women's Day delegation to Venezuela in March 2006. The idea behind the delegation was to learn about the struggles and gains of Venezuelan women in their efforts to advance their rights using new political and socio-economic models with an aim to develop relationships with women's groups working on issues of poverty, violence against women and economic development.

Mothers and caregivers economic rights campaign gains momentum
Article Abstract:
NOW members passed an important resolution, 'NOW Values Mothers' and Caregivers' Economic Rights,' at the 2005 national NOW conference in Nashville. The resolution which recounts NOW's longstanding work on economic justice for caregivers, calls for their re-devotion to the struggle to secure these rights.
