Zhu and the dam-busters
Article Abstract:
Chinese Prime Minister Zhy Rongji has made remarks which seem to indicate that the controversial $28 billion Three Gorges Dam project on the Yangzi River could face significant challenges. He has stressed the need to ensure that standards of supervision and inspection on the scheme are as high as possible, suggesting that he is concerned about the quality of the work on the dam. There are signs that the government may have to reconsider its approach to the Three Gorges, possibly ordering a redesign.
