Article Abstract:
Shannon Faulkner is ready to become the first women member at the Corps of Cadets at the Citadel in South Carolina. Faulkner's case began in 1993 when she was refused admission to the military school on the basis of her gender. She attended the school as a day student for two years. Another unidentified woman was denied admission to the Virginia Military Institute. The courts found that the schools' admission policy violated the equal rights of women.
