First-hand case for judicial training

Article Abstract:

Judges are hesitant to impose proper penalty on men who abuse their wives, despite the awareness that such men pose a danger to their wives. The knowledge that Danell Hernandez was murdered by her husband, who subsequently shot himself, did little to help a judge who was familiar with the case to grant a severe penalty to another man under similar circumstances. The only cure for people who batter their wives is a permanent lock-up behind the bars. Though such cases are regular in the United States, proper judgement is lacking.
