The Townsend Award: Family Champion of the Year

The Townsend Award was given to CT-based Deloitte & Touche CEO J. Michael Cook in 1997 for championing equal rights for women working at his company. The 1997 Family Champion also serves as chairman of the board at Catalyst, the top organization for the promotion of working women.

Blending a family

Article Abstract:

Members of stepfamilies go through different phases in trying to build and adjust to a new family. The first 2 years are often tumultous years where each member tries to adjust to the new situation. The second phase, which is marked by harmony, occurs within the next 3 to 5 years.
