Antipersonnel land mines: a vector for human suffering
Article Abstract:
Two members of Physicians for Human Rights believe the US should sign and ratify the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty. Since the treaty was proposed, 139 nations have signed it and 109 have ratified it. The number of countries that manufacture land mines has dropped from 54 to 16 and the number of mine-related injuries has decreased also.

Article Abstract:
Antibacterial soaps and lotions may do more harm than good and may just be a waste of money. Researchers have discovered that the antibacterial triclosan contributes to the growth of drug-resistant bacteria. Plain soap and water is sufficient to remove germs which people pick up daily.

Prakash conducted his field study of modern, industrialized Danish life in the manner of his research on primitive societies. He saw a near complete lack of community, with children growing up independent and lonely. The Danish press roasted him for moralizing, not researching.
