An estimated 18 million Americans suffer from migraine headaches, but there are some effective treatments on the market such as sumatriptan succinate and lidocaine. Although exercise may prevent or reduce migraines, athletes should not exercise immediately after the onset of pain.

The cold facts: exercising when you're under the weather

Excessive physical exertion during a cold can magnify the symptoms, and exercising with a fever can put an abnormal strain on the heart. It is best to limit the intensity of exercise during a cold. One recommendation is to keep the heart rate below 60%.
