Give Moms a chance

Article Abstract:

Jane Swift will become the Governor of Massachusetts in Spring 2001, at approximately the same time that she will give birth to twins. Swift has been criticized for taking on too much, but with a stay-at-home husband to look after her children, she believes herself capable of the task, and is a role model for women who have the chance to take on similar career opportunities at child-bearing age.

Mother's nature

Article Abstract:

Anthropologist Sarah Blaffer Hardy felt guilty about being a working mother, but her research into primates revealed that nature made women able to combine nurturing with ambition. Hardy feels that women's feelings of being torn are part of nature.
