Some of the easier ways to prevent dry and flaky skin and get smoother skin during winter are described. Creamy cleansers with skin-conditioning glycerin should be used instead of antibacterial soaps, an exfoliating scrub three times a week should be used instead of rapid-exfoliating hardware and creams with a texture resembling pudding and ingredients such as petrolatum and propylene glycol to trap moisture and soften instead of light lotions with a whipped-cream consistency.
