Her patience pays off

Article Abstract:

The United States Small Business Administration has named businesswoman Marguerite Kells as 1997 Small Business person of the Year for North Texas. Kells heads National Bankers Supply, a specialty firm which supplies money-handling products such as courier bags, change trays, and coin wrappers to financial companies that transport cash, checks, and financial documents. The successful firm supplies the packaging needs of more than 1,000 domestic and international companies such as Brinks Inc., McDonald's, and the US Postal Service.

The honorees, which include a fashion consultant, a Marine Corps gunnery sergeant, a college administrator and a septuagenarian businesswoman, also recognize the value of networking and informal training.

Trying to soar a flightless business

Article Abstract:

Gloria Funderburg's unusual emu raising business has been provided by the American Business Women's Assn., of which she is a member, with a necessary means to promote and market her produce. She, along with a group of recruit area ranchers, is busy trying to establish a National Emu co-operative that would be run like similar business associations. She has contacted the National Emu Assn. for further help.
