Parents should develop house rules that are inflexible and ones that all members, especially children, follow. Examples of such rules are being kind to each other, each person is responsible for throwing out his used tissue and any juice an individual pours must be consumed by that individual.

Winning over whining

A mother shares how a whining boy at a restaurant was pacified by his father who stopped him from dumping the salt shaker. The father gave all sorts of explanations, even if they were not sensible enough, why it is bad to dump the saltshaker.
